Danni heard commotion in the cafe but didn't leave her room. Something frightened her, perhaps it was the unknown...or perhaps it was what she did know: that her life would never be as she wanted or expected. "Once..." Ohhh, that voice. That voice. Ebony's voice, low and colored with vague, distant amusement. "Once, I'd have given the world to see you like this."
She leans against the doorway with one hip, considering the fetal-curled woman on the bed. "But really, Danni. I thought you were stronger." Cruel words, a sharp edge that snaps out like the proverbial whip. "Are you crying because he's gone and had a child with someone else, or because everything changed while you were gone? There's a difference, you know." Ebony's expression is set in disdainful lines, but not... hateful. Not even angry. Just sharp.
A step brings her inside, the door shut behind her.

"Hello is anyone there," he called out, "Danni, is that you in there?" He could hear someone moving about, and talking.

"You know, I'm almost happy to see you." She slid her legs off the side of the bed and stood, staring at the figure at the door. "Ebony, I honestly don't know why I'm crying. I didn't expect him to wait - not by any means. I didn't even expect things to be the same. But just because I didn't expect it doesn't mean that I was prepared to face everything."
