There was an article about this in the Post Gazette a while back, how people call themselves "bi" seemingly because of trend value and not necessarily because it reflects who they are. The phenomenon seems to peak at college, then once these people graduate they tend to ditch it. I suppose on the one hand one could argue that it reflects the progress made in society over the past few decades: where people once lived in terror of "coming out" for being ostracized from society, now people who get drunk and have one fling can be confident enough to wear that label. On the other hand, it sort of cheapens the whole thing, and like you said, has no apparent benefit to true died-in-the-wool bi or gay people

CAPA is no longer an arts school. It's a corporate whore ruined by suburbanites. I can't wait to leave.
