Passing of the torch

So I was at faire with my sweetie and friends in Georgia. I'm sitting talking with one of the Wenches and the subject of how long we've been doing the Faire thing came up. I did a couple of quick mental calculations... double checked the numbers... then was both proud and dismayed to realize that I've been involved in Renn Faire (mostly as a paid ( Read more... )

Perhaps, but you are Quality Old Faire Folk, well-traveled, seasoned and world-wise. Okay, that does almost make it sound creaky. Sorry 'bout that. Er, Wisdom of Experience? Veteran Performer?

Wear it proudly and grin hugely and all shall be well!
Sixteen years is damned impressive.

I remember way back when. I admired a young, longer haired and slightly over enthusiastic gentleman at Faire. He was the older brother of one of my friends. So suave, so cool. Too cool to hang out or even notice a shy retiring girl like myself. I remeber not what trinket he was hawking that day, I do remember him calling out to me to come over and speak with him. Me???? Speak too this GOD of Fairdom. I crept timidly over, scarecly believing that he might actually know me and want to speak to me. When I pushed my way through the crowds of women who were gawking and hanging on him every word he simply stated "Hey aren't you Andy's little sister"

16 years is a long time sir. But you well it well. :-)

Don't you love how some innocuous, unthinking, casual statement can come back years later to bite you on the butt?

But I'm glad you're here to keep me honest... or is it 'humble'.

Dear Friend-- it doesn't seem like that's right. 16? I graduated 15 ago and you had graduated 2 before that. Were you doing this when I knew you? Really? And I still liked you huh? Okay then. I believe you. I'm old. You're old. But LOVED the x-mas family pics. Amazing the things I find on this here computer. It was good to see you--happy.
Old Friend.
