you should look into the deeply entrenched horrorfilm tendency to focus violence on women, female sexuality. many classic horror movies are as much about the fear of the female body as about zombies or blood.

Exactly. I've only just scraped the surface here. This shall be the first of many ramblings on horror movies, mark my words.

This of course will mean more Ginger Snaps. I want to explore the werewolf/period metaphor in a bit more detail than I have done previously.

Yes, that is the tradition of women in horrors, but most of my favourite horrors are those which break the tradition. Ginger Snaps is a horror about strong women. Buffy's the hero. Then to take something not about women, The Shining breaks most of the traditions of horror. That's why I love them so much. They're different. Though some of them can be ridiculous, I agree.

YES! IT'S AWESOME! Ginger Snaps 2 lesser so, and I've not seen the third. But the first is great. And Sam rocks.
