Weirdly enough, one of my friends is going through this right now--I told him to drop his "boyfriend" like it's hot. Sorry, but Brian sitting there, twiddling his dick while this *looks* Tom is hitting on you. I say fuck it, life is too short--go on a few dates with Tom.

And in unrelated (but eerily news), my friend's boyfriend is named Bryan and the guy hitting on him is named Tom.

I haven't been in this position, but a slightly different one. My SO and I broke up for about two months last year, and while we were apart there was this other guy who really, really liked me. In this case, I wasn't really sure if I returned the feelings - I was still so in love with my SO - but eventually I decided to go for it. Life's too short to wait for someone who isn't sure he wants you. As it turns out, really briefly seeing this guy somewhat led to my SO and I reuniting. Not saying this will happen, *but*. It did help me become a happier, more self-sufficient person, just by proving to myself that I had the guts to reach for something that had the potential to make me happy, even if it meant stepping away from something familiar and comfortable. Even if it meant taking a chance that might not go anywhere
