It may not be on your preferred schedule, but Gabbi, getting a job where you make twice as much money is still good news, even if it doesn't start until after New Year's. Yes, instant gratification is awesome and you do need the money now, I get that, but you could look forward to making summer plans for yourself. Being able to move out and to properly care for Zoe is very good news. :)

i know. and i hope it pans out. i was just so disappointed because i went into the interview expecting it to be an offer or denial on the spot, and at the very end, she tells me i won't even hear about it for weeks, and i was really really caught off guard. and i still don't know what i'm going to do about money for now. but yes, i know it's still good

I don't think I've ever attended a job interview where they didn't meet with all the short-listed candidates before making a decision. That's only sensible business practice, but I can see how you'd be disappointed if you thought you'd get an immediate offer.
When you came to me for advice, I couldn't just pretend that your tendency to rush into situations isn't irresponsible. It wasn't what you wanted to hear, but I didn't say any of it to be cruel. I want to enable you to help yourself, and fact of the matter is, you're going to get a different kind of response from a much older guy than you will from your contemporary girl friends. Not replying is okay though, I can't say I expected a response.
We're doing well and you may send a card, if you want, but I have some stipulations to it.
