So I'm trying out this Dreamwidth everyone is jumping to...but I can not for the life of me figure out this layout crap. I just give up. I used to know how to do all this sh't but now I have no clue...will someone please help me? :(

Don't be sad. I can try to help you if I can! Laura was really my guiding light for this. All change comes with a small learning curve. But you'll get used to it. I did.
