LJ DRAMA:
What's the point?

It's another zany Tanya idea; a tutorial. The funny part is, it isn't for graphics. It's for getting people to stfu about lj drama. Steps on how to stop it, or try to prevent starting drama over petty things.

Drama is the root of evil. Honestly, is there a true purpose to start drama on LJ? It's an online journal. It's a bunch of codes compiled so you can spill your life to whomever wants to read it whether it be private, friends, or public, on the internet. If you have a private journal, you really have no use reading this because there shouldn't be any problems. Most of the drama occurs in friends only and public journals. Some roots of livejournal drama are:

o Graphic stealing, or stealing in general. Of styles, codes, colours, writings... everything
o Sheer hate- like online arguements and flaming
o Stupidity- morons who have nothing to flame or fight about but do it for the sake of their sick little minds
o Other- random things that may happen, chains (my friend told your brother's sister's cousin's mother that you had your cousin's dad's step-sister's cell phone...), or drama that occurs on AIM/MSN that is brought into livejournal.

Steps to success:

1. Survey the situation
You may really be angry over nothing. For example, alot of people are using illegible text on their icons. That is something that alot of people are adding to their icons to make them spiffy and fun. Don't think that because you did this, everyone is copying you. There's a difference between vague copying, like using similar brushes, or blatant copying, like laying out your icon identical to someones, using the same colours, effects, textures, pictures (or even different pictures). If people are copying you, you have a right to be upset and frustrated, but there's no need to bring it into livejournal. If they're stealing from a community or icon journal, remove them. Talk to them on AIM. If they continue, report them to livejournal abuse (with good reason). If they don't have access to your icons anymore, they can't steal them.

2. Find effective ways to solve the problem
If they're stealing from a community or icon journal, remove them. Talk to them on AIM. If they continue, report them to livejournal abuse (with good reason). If they don't have access to your icons anymore, they can't steal them. If it's just verbal drama, be the better person and let them yell to themselves. If you don't care anymore, they'll stop.

3. Don't get involved in other drama
If something doesn't effect you, don't get involved. You're just escalating the problem to a higher level. Unless you are personally effected, it's better to butt out. Sometimes it's hard to see a friend get sworn at or see their stuff stolen. If you really need to say something, say something they can't reply to. Witty and to the point. Try not to swear back at them.

4. Get over it
There's no need to hold a grudge about something 6 months after the fact. What's done is done. You're not being forced to converse with the person.

Try to follow the above steps if you're in a bad situation. I know you might not want to hear me preach on, but I'm sick of all this going around. If you have anything to add, suggest, ask, or critisize, email me at x3_dazzling@yahoo.com. I check my email daily, so I should get back to you asap. These are just guidlines, not clear-cut rules. I'm prone to have done some of the things I've mentioned like swearing or pointless grudges. Just because I wrote this, doesn't mean I didn't do anything. We all make mistakes. I'm over them and I think you should be too.
