I took off my hat and I did salute her.

When I was just a little girl my mother had a sewing box, in this sewing box was a square plastic box, this box was black with a see through lid. The lid was engraved with the guitar logo Ibanez. The box with the engraved logo was full of buttons. All kinds of buttons of all colours and all shapes and sizes. I would sit cross legged on the floor with the box in front of me, close my eyes and stick my hand into the box. I'd clench my fist around the buttons, the plastic cold against my skin, slowly I would unclench my hand letting the buttons fall small ones first. Once my hand was fully open I would open my eyes and see which buttons were left sitting on my warm skin. I'd let my fingertips feel the texture, running my fingers over the edges round or square, blunt or sharp.
