My experience with tooth extraction last year was definitely something I'd rather forget. Apparently, not changing the pressure inside your mouth helps you avoid dry socket...so nose blowing, sucking on things (lol)...uh try not to do that.
I am taking no chances, have a wad of gauze wedged in there and am planning to sleep with some cotton in there. It has been so hard eating on one side of my mouth, I have to do it with my head tilted. May have to add a thoughtful expression if I have to eat in public.
It was pretty brutal! He had to drill my tooth in half to get it out, after the crown snapped off... had about six needles of anasthetic in there and in the end I barely felt anything, but god, all that metal stuff in your mouth (pliers! gyargh) is scary. I nearly clawed at my mouth at one point. He then (cute vietnamese guy with manga hair, heeee) told me I'd done a great job with my first extraction, which made me feel v. accomplished, in a woozy sort of way.
Paracetamol seems to be doing the trick for now, but if it does start to hurt I'll be looking into that... it hurt a lot more before when the tooth in question was being crushed between the wisdom tooth and the rest of them; hardly even aches right now. Willy is a godsend, she found me an appointment in Ballarat when I couldn't get one sooner in the city...
Ha, no, I can eat, though chewy/crunchy things are prohibited for the moment. Trying to decide between mushy weetbix with fruitcup or tinsoup atm... hooray for tea!
