Two Southaven teenagers were killed Sunday night when the car in which they were riding collided with another car on Goodman Road.
As a passenger in the other car got out to check on the teenagers, he was struck by an eastbound car that fled the scene.
Capt. Cliff Freeman of the Southaven Police Department said Beth Anne Crittenden, 19, and Joseph Thomas Faucher, 17, were killed when their westbound 2004 Oldsmobile Alero collided with a eastbound 1995 Mitsubishi Galant. The accident was reported at 9:45 p.m. Sunday.
The Mitsubishi was driven by Deborah L. Lee, 42. She was taken to the Regional Medical Center at Memphis where she was treated and released.
Freeman said that Joseph R. Johnson, 32, a passenger in the Mitsubishi, got out to check on the teenagers. He was struck and was injured critically injured by a car driven by Jose L. Ramirez, 35.
Johnson was in critical condition at The Med, in surgery Monday morning.
The Ramirez vehicle fled the scene, eastbound. The car was caught and stopped by Patrolman Lance Sheppard near Craft and Goodman Road in Olive Branch.
Ramirez was charged with DUI, driving without a license and leaving the accident scene with a serious injury involved.
