All right Ya’ll loving the gas prices?

You know I remember talking with some friends a couple of years ago about oil prices. I have a relative who knows all about the oil and OPEC, it’s what he does, he told my dad about 3 years ago prices would reach $40 a barrel by 04. It was a prediction, a very accurate one. Any how I was talking with my friends about this and I was saying we need ( Read more... )

do americans not realize how expensive gas is in every other part of the world? i personally don't care if the gas is at $2.15 a gallon, maybe it will encourage people to walk their asses places instead of driving everywhere. however, i do realize that places like europe especially have great public transportation and whatnot. but still. come on. how about we don't drive cars that drink gas like there is no tomorrow. i am not usually a liberal, but maybe i am on this issue.

I see your point, I don’t know were you live but it sounds heavily populated… I live in a rural area it’s just not practical to walk every were, when I have to travel at lest 10 miles. We don’t have a good transit system cause not enough people can use it, I live in a farming area, no way buses are going to go out to every house. When I lived in Scottsdale, Az. I used the bus all the time. When I go Seattle in Oct I’m going to leave my car here and use the bus, or walk. But the point is that we have tons of Reserve land and under some of that land is oil, why not use it?

i totally know what you mean, it's not necessarily the public's fault, except if they live in cities. the country as a whole is so spread out and it has really bad public transportation (except in like nyc and washington or something). our country is set up to guzzle gas. :(

of course we like big rig, car maker are comming out with hybrid trucks and what not, but the do not have the power of gas trucks. Look at how much we depend on it. Imagain a US with out our truckers? We need fuel, and untill the tec come out that gives us a better source or usage of the fuel, why not drill for oil on our own soil? thats all that im say. i Know a years to come we will find some way to have better fuel system. Untill then lets use our own resourses.

The answer isn't to start squeezing oil out of our own country (which has pretty much negligable oil resources compared to tiny countries in the middle east) but to transfer to better fuel sources. I've done plenty of research on alternative fuel sources. Hell... if they would make the investments to change the primary fuel source to alcahol or hydrogen, both of those have as much or more of an energy release when burned as gasolene (IE your SUV would still go as fast just not as far) but the good thing about those is that they are INFINATELY renewable. hell, you can just suck hydrogen out of water. and plain ethanol is easier than hell to make out of the throw-outs from sugary crops.

Down side to that right now is that its still unstable, more so compaired to gas. The last i heard Ethanol was the fuel of choice...

Hydrogen is rather unstable because it needs to be pressurized into a liquid form to be ignited. and the only problem with ethanol is it burns hotter than gasolene so it wreaks havoc on the seals on normal gasolene cars so they need to revamp some of the parts of the engine to take the heat into consideration.

Over coming the heat from Ethanol shouldnt be a problem. in less then 20 years im sure we will have what we need. UNtill then i say lets drill for oil on our own land! Lets export less oil to other countries!

You are a big idiot. What about the O2? Trees and other plant life make O2. Once the rain forest are gone we'll be needing the reserved land. So once you get that giant stick up your ass out, maybe you can realize what a complete idiot and a dumb ass you really are.

Of course, this only goes back to the topic that drilling for oil in our own country is pretty much the same as spending an hour trying to get that last bit of ketchup out of the bottom of the bottle. A whole lot of hassle, and not much result. The fact remains that america doesn't have enough oil in the reserve lands to make much of an impact on gas prices.

Actually, Saddam offered to let us have access to oil and search for weapons of mass destruction as long as we didn't bring in military forces, so neither of those are the reasons for us going to war, it's just a bunch of liberal bullshit.
The reason we ended up going to war was that this psycho asshole Saddam refused to STEP DOWN.
