Stakes, check.

Extra shirt, pants and boots, check.

Pocket Kama Sutra, check.

Ok, think I'm ready for Boston.

First one brings up Star Wars, or comic books, or Babylon 5, dies a horrid, painful death. And since I'm driving, I'm in charge of the bloody radio, so William Shatner sings is right off of the playlist.

Why do I have a bad feeling ( Read more... )

I promise I'll be good. And I'm not that into Shatner. Anyway, it's a moot point, because I'm bringing my headphones. Listen to your Sex Pistols all you want.

It's funny, really. I've been listening to the radio more, and some of these new groups aren't at all bad... Nickleback, and Linkin Park, for instance...

I mean, yeah, good. Do what you want.

You like Nickelback and Linkin Park? They're so . . . not you. I always thought of them as more corporate than you'd appreciate.

A few warnings about Boston (other than everyone I know hates the place). Main roads and streets are rarely if ever marked, so make certain to have your maps handy, you will get lost. You can pretty well disregard compass points in road direction signs. Highways are well marked generally. Rotaries, if you've never handled one, they're an experience there. You may find the accent grating (I do). The train system does not run all night (last train ~12:00am as I recall) and some of the stations on the underground are actually above ground. You're unlikely to find on the street parking, many people have guest placards to stick behind your windshield that can keep you from being ticketed. I would have told you to take a pass on Boston, but then I saw why you're going.
Safe home, and all that. Hope you can find out and kill whatever that thing is.

Wow. That came across very badly.

I personally love Boston, and I have some v. dear friends that live there. So, the next time you decide to be an expert on something? Think about what you're saying. Right now? I'm offended at what you just said, and I'm pretty sure that anyone else who does happen to enjoy Boston, or has family or friends there? Will be as well.

Think twice, type once. It's not that hard to be a jackass, but it's much harder not to.

Yeah, they were pretty much the first ones that made me rethink my loathing of modern music.

And oddly, I have been listening to that band for days...
