Here are the pictures from yesterday.
The only reason we even noticed there was even a flood was because my mom had told my brother to look at a tree that had fallen in the backyard. Which she had seen ten minutes earlier. When there was no flood at all. It took ten minutes to flood the entire backyard. Flash flood, indeed.
After that we started to panic because the water was already starting to flod the back patio. While my mom decided to call the fire department I decided to look online on what the fuck to do in these types of situations. And then thats how I found out where to get sandbags. So while the fire department were on there way my brother and I decided to go to the Debary City Call to get the sandbags. Thats when we realized we had to fill these bags with sand on our own. In the middle of a parking lot was a big ass pile of dirt and people shoveling the dirt into the bags. We had the bags but no shovels. So then we went to Win-Dixie to see if they had shovels there. They didnt. So I called my mom and was like "zomg wtf do we dooo?". Then she told us that the fire dudes were at the house and told us that the Orange City City Hall would have dirt and shovels. And so we went there and shoveled 14 bags. Of course all of this was done in the cold rain. And of course we werent prepared and were in our regular clothes. I was in my jeans and was wearing my 100 dollar Nike shoes. :'( But thats ok. Cause after that we got a call that our cousins were coming to help us with more bags and shovels. :D So we met them at the house.
(The reason our backyard was flooding so badly was because the doctor's office that are right behind us had a wierd pond thingy and it was pretty much just pushing the water out like crazy. And it all came to our side. The fire people couldnt really do much except check on us (which they did. two times yesterday and once today) and give us advice on what to do. They would have pumped the water out but they needed permission from the doctors office in order to do that but couldnt reach them so. Yeah.)
Anyway.
This is how close the water got to getting in the house.
The backyard.
lol. I was running around in my socks for a while.
Tree that fell.
Side of the house.
Everyone (with the neighbors help) decided to shovel a path for the water to flow away from the backyard.
I love these guys SO MUCH. (David and Danny) As soon as they got here the mood totally changed. They always make me laugh like crazy.
After all that was done we went back to the Debary City Hall to get 35 more sandbags. It was crazy cause while we were there this big truck came to dump more dirt. I dont know about you guys but I never been so close to a big ass truck dumping dirt on the ground. IT WAS SO COOL. lol And there was so many people. It just felt really great. By this time I was having a really good time. And wasnt worried about a thing.
In the end Im just so glad and greatful to be surrounded by such good people. I love them all.
:D
