I look at the number of people I normally RPed with on my MUD, and the number of people that now aren't really playing the MUD because they're playing WoW instead, and it makes me sad

I mean, no social group lasts forever, regardless of how dorky it is.

I'm sure you do! I was never questioning it's awesometisity (Hell, I even played that MUD (if it's the one I'm thinking of) for a bit, and it was pretty awesome), merely it's longevity; more specifically, the ability of its longetivity to extend until your death (actual, not character).

If it was naturally waning disinterest, replaced by interest in something else, that would be different. That, and WoW sucking away some of our good players, making the player base smaller and resulting in less people to RP with. I suppose that's a natural process, and I've stuck it out before
