Just ouf of curiosity (because I've always wondered how studying abroad somewhere you didn't speak the language worked) - what kind of classes will you be going to? Did you chose to go to the Netherlands or was it just allocated to you?
Also, will you be doing French and/or Russian in your fourth year?
Hey! I take classes in linguistics, like I would in edinburgh. Leiden has a huge amount of courses in English, so it's possible to get by here without knowing much Dutch. And I chose the Netherlands as my second choice, France was my first but I didn't really mind where I went! Nope, no more French or Russian now, just solid English Language/Linguistics. Makes me a bit sad really :(
Hi! Hope you're enjoying the start of your year abroad. I think I may've seen you at Hugh Robson just at the end of the Fringe but wasn't too sure what meeting an LJ friend would be like. Pretty sure we'll have some mutual friends in Edinburgh by this time as well! :) Good luck with everything! Nicola
Hi! Haha it's totally possible you did, I was in there with another girl sorting out various year abroad stuff. You should've come said hi! :) Haha and I'm sure we do, Edinburgh's so close knit it'd be hard not to. Everyone seems to know everyone else! Thanks, and you too!
