Bam returned home the next morning, his lips tingling with Ville’s lingering taste and his heart still pounding, only to find that the house was empty. A tattered piece of paper covered in chicken-scratch was clipped to the refrigerator, and upon further inspection Bam discovered that everyone was out on a family trip to the grocery store. The note, obviously written in Jess’s handwriting, pointedly expressed that Bam was in major trouble for sneaking out. Crumpling up the small note and tossing it into the nearby trash bin, Bam scowled and made his way up to his room.
He enjoyed the silence that filled the large house, thanking whatever god would listen that there was no one home to badger him. It gave him an opportunity to think over the events of the previous night. Wrapping himself within the comfort of his blanket, Bam’s mind began to wander as he buried his face in his pillow and let his eyes slip closed.
Did Ville really mean what he said? Could he really run away from all of this? When would they leave? Where would they go?
This was insanity, Bam figured. There was no way he was actually contemplating running away with a vampire. But he couldn’t deny that the idea was refreshing. Just the concept of taking off and never returning seemed to lift a weight from his shoulders that Bam didn’t know was there. Something about running away with Ville made him feel safe, the knowledge that he would be protected in his strange lover’s arms making the whole situation seem logical, as if it were an easy question with an easy answer. Of course it was crazy, but what wasn’t in this world?
Bam rolled over slightly, shifting into a more comfortable position in an attempt to calm his racing thoughts. It didn’t work, though, and Bam was left with the plague that was invading his mind. A myriad of questions circled through his head, questions that he was far from having the answers to. He was unaware of how long he had been laying there until he heard a car pull up in the driveway. Half expecting it to be his parents, Bam ignored the noise and tried to fall asleep. Maybe if he was sleeping they would refrain from yelling at him right now.
However, when someone knocked on the door moments later, Bam’s eyes shot open and he nearly jumped out of the bed. Who could that be? It definitely wasn’t his parents-there was no need for them to knock on their own door. It was probably one of Jess’s band-mates stopping by for some free food and a place to crash. Rolling out of the bed, Bam shuffled his way down the stairs and to the front door. The house remained as silent as before, but this time the lack of noise seemed to put Bam on edge.
As he reached the large wooden door and made contact with brass doorknob, a shock went through his fingers and caused him to recoil. Cursing the gods for creating static electricity, he pushed himself forward and flung the door open.
The site before him caused Bam to take a confused step backwards. It wasn’t one of the guys standing on his porch, it wasn’t his parents screaming about locking the keys in the house, it wasn’t even that crazy Dunn kid. It was a man about his age, maybe a few years older, dressed in a tailored suit, black on black with only a deep shade of burgundy peeking out from the tie around his neck. Bam didn’t recognize the man from anywhere, but something about his presence gave him the feeling that he should know this man before him.
“What are you trying to sell?” Bam asked rudely as he finally got his thoughts together. It was probably one of those door-to-door salesmen that come around all the time. The man cocked his head to the side and gave Bam a confused look before flashing a playful smile.
“I am not here for retail, sir,” he spoke softly, a hint of some hidden joke lying beneath his words. Bam’s ears quirked up at the sound of his voice, noticing an accent very similar to Ville’s.
“Then what the hell are you here for?” He didn’t mean to come off as angry, but the words slipped from Bam’s tongue before he had the chance to stop them. For some reason, a sense of relief washed over him when the strange man cast him another smile.
“I have been summoned to retrieve you,” he spoke around a timid smirk, as if he himself wasn’t sure what he was doing. The statement took Bam by surprise and he took yet another hesitant step backwards. His first instinct was to slam the door in the man’s face, but something inside of him compelled him to ask further.
“What the hell are you talking about?” The man’s head dipped down in apology, long dreads of blonde hair cascading over piercing blue eyes.
There was a moment of awkward silence before he answered, “Master Ville has sent me to collect you for summons.”
The mention of the vampire’s name sent a surprising chill down Bam’s spine, and he was more than aware of the fact that his mouth was hanging open in shock. It took him a second to filter what the man had said, and when he finally did he wasn’t sure of what to make of it all.
“You know Ville?” the question was redundant, and Bam mentally cursed himself for sound so stupid. “I mean-”
“Ville was right, you do ask a lot of questions,” the man cut him off with a sharp laugh. Without waiting for Bam’s response, he stuck out a pale hand in greeting. “I’m Linde.”
Bam took the warm hand in his, surprised by the life he felt radiating off of this strange man, and shook it appropriately. He took a doubtful glance at the sky before asking, “You’re not a vampire, are you?”
“No,” Linde laughed again, and Bam found that he liked the man’s smile. “If I was, I wouldn’t be standing out here in the broad daylight, now would I?”
“Right,” Bam pursed his lips together tightly, his hand sneaking up to rub the back of his neck uncomfortably. “Do you…want to come in or something?”
The man nodded with another smile and followed Bam into the large house, taking a seat at the couch and leisurely propping his feet up on the coffee table. Bam was a little shocked that the man was so quick to make himself at home, but ignored it and sat down in the chair beside him. They sat in silence for a moment, Bam trying to take in every feature of the new stranger beside him, before Linde finally decided to speak up.
“Master Ville told me that you are very special to him,” he smirked, noticing the blush that painted Bam’s cheeks. “He also told me that you have agreed to join us.”
“J-Join you?” Bam stuttered suddenly, Linde’s simple statement circling through his head at a million miles per hour.
“Yes,” he chuckled lightly, cocking his head to the side. “He said you agreed to run away with him. Am I mistaken?”
Suddenly the night before came crashing to Bam’s memory, a night he hadn’t completely forgotten-but has laid dormant for the last few minutes. Bam sat up straight in his seat, arching his back in an attempt to make himself seem taller and more in control. Leaning forward the slightest bit, he said, “Well, yeah, I said that. But that still doesn’t tell me what the hell you’re doing here.”
Linde shook his head slightly, as if scolding a bad child. “I’ve already told you. You must not be listening to me.” He took a deep breath and ran a hand through his tousled hair. “Master Ville has sent me to retrieve you, seeing as he cannot step foot outside in the daylight. I am merely playing his role for the day.”
“So let me get this straight,” Bam sighed exasperatedly, “Ville sent you here to pick me up and take me away-to God knows where-because he’s a vampire and you’re not. He doesn’t tell me any of this, and just assumes that I’ll be more than willing to go along with a perfect stranger, correct? And what’s with all of this ‘master’ bullshit?”
Another chuckle tore itself from Linde’s lips, but this time Bam despised it. “That’s pretty much it, sport. And Master Ville is…well, my master. What else am I to call him? You see, I am just like you: human.”
Bam let out a frustrated growl, standing from his seat and pacing the room impatiently. Something about this day was leaving a bitter taste in his mouth. “What am I supposed to do? Just take off with you?”
“Yes,” he answered simply, not offering Bam a second glance as he stood and walked toward the front door.
“This is fucking ridiculous,” Bam mumbled, more to himself than to Linde. He stood there for a second, unsure of what to do, before taking a step forward. “Can I grab a few things from upstairs first?”
Bam watched as Linde merely nodded before he took off up the stairs, taking the steps two at a time. His heart was threatening to leap from his chest at any moment, and he tried to get it to settle before he gave himself a heart-attack. Grabbing only a few articles of clothing and his favorite list of CDs, Bam shoved the contents into his haggard school bag and sprinted back down the stairs. He half expected to find the house empty when he returned downstairs, as if this were all a strange dream, but instead Linde was waiting patiently for him by the front door.
They exchanged a quick nod before Bam pushed the door open and they walked out into the harsh daylight. Only one thought circled through Bam’s head as they made their way to the black Sedan in the driveway: What the hell am I doing?

Bam had no idea where Linde was taking him, the ride was spent in silence and the only noise was the passing of the concrete street beneath the tires. The small community quickly turned to country side, but the skater still seemed lost. What if this man planned to murder him and hide his body out by an abandoned farm somewhere?
Glancing over at the man in the driver’s seat, Bam’s breath hitched in his throat when he saw no emotion on Linde’s face. Maybe he really was a psychopath…
“Mind if I turn on the radio?” Bam asked suddenly, the oppressive silence killing him.
“Go right ahead,” Linde shrugged, his eyes not leaving the road ahead of them. Bam fumbled with the buttons on the dashboard for a second, finally falling on a classic rock station. A Led Zeppelin song drifted up softly from the speakers, but it was basically just background noise. Static to fill the silence with.
The car continued to coast down the empty road, leaving the comforting town that Bam had come to known and venturing out into the depth of Philadelphia. The change from small town to inner-city took the skater by surprise, he was expecting to be driven out to some massive castle in the middle of nowhere…that or the side of some dead-end road where he would be murdered. But the familiar downtown streets gave Bam a sense of safety that he was sure he wouldn’t have when he got in the car an hour ago.
Bam watched as Linde skillfully navigated the crowded streets and gracefully moved between the other cars as if he were born to drive, coasting to a stop just outside of a large office building. At first Bam thought they were stopped by a red light, but when Linde got out of the car he was proven otherwise. The building was massive, stretching into the sky at least fifty stories up, and Bam had to crane his neck all the way up just to see the top peeking out of the overcast clouds. It definitely wasn’t what he expected.
“What…what are we doing here?” he asked finally, his voice sounding a bit parched from lack of use. Linde just cast him a coy smile over his shoulder and walked through the large glass doors of the building. Bam, unaware of what else to do, shrugged his shoulders and followed the man, making sure to keep close enough to follow, but not to cramp the blonde’s space.
Linde spoke briefly with a receptionist behind a large counter up front before heading toward the elevators, Bam not far behind them. They rode the lift up the top floor, the ride seemingly endless to the anxious skater, and exited into what appeared to be the beginning of a vast loft.
Peering down the long corridor before him, Bam arched an eyebrow and said in astonishment, “Now, you’re definitely going to have a hard time explaining this one.”
“What? A vampire has to live in style, no?” Linde laughed again, this time almost obnoxiously. As Bam was left staring at the surrounding room, the blonde pushed forward and down the hallway, silently beckoning the skater to follow. Bam followed, of course, but mainly out of fear of being left alone in such an unfamiliar place.
The hallway seemed endless, thick cherry wood doors lining each wall and contrasting against the crème-colored walls. Bam found himself enraptured with the classical beauty of the place-shocked that something as eloquent as this could be found within the walls of a modern sky-rise. The entire place was silent, the only noise being the disrupting sound of their footsteps pounding out a staccato beat on the polished hardwood floor. The sound seemed to reverberate off the walls and come alive, and Bam almost got lost in the surrealism of the place. He was sure he would have fallen off the face of the earth if Linde hadn’t chosen that moment to place an arm on his shoulder. Looking up, Bam noticed that they were standing in front of the largest door of them all; two interlocking golden V’s adorning the nearly black wood.
They stood there for a moment, Bam unaware of what was expected of him and Linde simply smiling at the confused boy, before the blonde arched his back and opened the door. Bam half expected the hallway to be flooded with ethereal light accompanied by the orchestra of the angels, but what lay before him was just another large room. It was fairly shaded for the middle of the day, thick drapes blocking out any intruding light that the city could offer and only a few lamps speckling the assorted tables and desks. The room was silent and still, as if no one had stepped foot in it in ages.
“The Master is sleeping right now, but he shall rise momentarily,” Linde spoke in a hushed voice, motioning for Bam to take a seat on one of the many couches that adorned the room. Bam instead propped himself in a large recliner that sat adjacent to an elegant fireplace, not wanting the intrusion of another person beside him. As he got comfortable in the worn leather, Linde excused himself and walked through one of the many doors on the opposite side of the room.
“What the hell am I doing here?” Bam asked himself as soon as he was sure he was alone. His voice seemed to break the silence around him with a snap, and he almost felt guilty for disrupting any sanctity that the room had previously held. He wasn’t given much time to organize his thoughts, though, for it was in that minute that the door Linde had walked through opened up again, the vampire himself sauntering into the room.
“I see you came,” Ville observed with a smile, walking across the room gracefully. Bam expected him to take a seat at his side, but instead the vampire passed him up in favor of the bar to his right. Pouring a healthy glass of brandy, he absently twirled the drink with a flick of his wrist and cast his green eyes on the skater.
“Yeah, well I didn’t have much of a choice,” Bam answered truthfully, the cocky teenager coming out in him once more. “So this is where you live?”
“Living,” Ville chuckled softly, “Is far from what I do here. No, I just reside here for the time being.”
The vampire obviously felt that his answer was sufficient, for he then moved to sit in a nearby loveseat-his feet propped up on the plush cushions and his brandy cradled safely in one hand. The gesture seemed almost inviting, and it took everything Bam had to refrain himself from jumping the man before him.
A semi-awkward silence formed between them, Ville exuding a calm façade that ebbed on Bam’s nerves while the skater tried to figure out exactly what he was doing in a skyscraper in downtown Philadelphia talking to a vampire. A week ago he would have thought that this situation was the product of a horror movie, but now the lines between reality and fiction were so completely blurred that he had a hard time telling what was real and what was just a figment of his imagination.
Nervously picking at the hem of his jacket, Bam decided to break the silence before his brain exploded. “Why did you call me here?”
“I thought you knew,” Ville answered simply, as if the answer was obvious. His eyebrows quirked up in slight confusion, an expression that didn’t seem to fit with a creature such as himself. It seemed too…human. “My dear Bammi, didn’t you agree to run away with me?”
“I…yeah, but…” the words seemed to catch in the skater’s throat. Of course he had said those things, but it was in the heat of passion-he would have said anything to keep Ville by his side in that moment. Ville couldn’t possibly be serious, could he? “I didn’t think you actually wanted me to run away with you.”
Rather than answering right away, Ville stood from his spot and placed the untouched drink down on the coffee table. In one swift movement he was straddling Bam’s legs, a cold hand reaching up to clasp the skater’s chin. “I wouldn’t have asked if I didn’t mean it.”
The close proximity threw Bam off balance, and he stuttered for a moment before regaining his breath. “I-I thought it was just mindless…you know…sweet nothings.”
“Love, there is nothing sweet about nothings,” Ville whispered softly, his warm breath ghosting over Bam’s jaw line. “Why say anything at all if it’s not from the heart?”
Bam’s attention was suddenly drawn to the door Ville had just come from, his eyes falling on the figure of Linde standing in the doorframe. The blonde was staring at them with fascinated blue eyes, taking in their every action without speaking a word.
“What about him?” Bam asked with a nod toward the door. Ville didn’t have to turn around to know who he was talking about, and without acknowledging Bam’s nod he buried his face in the skater’s neck and began sucking on the tender flesh.
“He is none of your concern,” Ville moaned, leaving a wet trail down Bam’s neck. “Just a very, very dear boy.” He pulled away suddenly then, snapping back to sit upright in Bam’s lap. The skater stared up at him with panting breaths, missing the wonderful ministrations that Ville was previously performing. “Now, are you going to answer my question or not?”
“W-What question?” Bam tried to play dumb, but knew full well that Ville could see through his lie.
“Will you run away with me?” Ville asked again patiently, a sparkle in his eyes that Bam hadn’t seen before. It was as if the vampire was hanging on to his every word, and a part of him loved the power that the simple gesture gave him.
Bam thought about it for a moment, having already made up his mind long ago, but more-over trying to think of a proper way to word his answer. Finally settling on a suitable response, he whispered softly, “What have I got to lose?”
“There is nothing to lose, but everything to gain,” Ville whispered back, his mouth latching onto Bam’s. Bam moaned into the vampire’s mouth, arching his back off of the leather chair and his chest pressing safely into Ville’s. A moan built up from his chest and rumbled his throat as his eyes slipped closed and he let his instincts take over. However, Ville chose that moment to pull away slightly, knowing how teasing his actions were.
“Together we can rule our world,” He whispered in Bam’s ear, the words wet and having more meaning than was conveyed. “Together we can rule theirs, too.”

I know it's 4:30 in the morning...but I sat down and wrote this and decided to post it the minute it was done. Hey, think of it as a treat to all of you late night Vam-roamers out there.♥
Sorry about the delay. I had a friend over all week and she basically hogged my computer. Me, being me, was too embarassed to say "Hey I need to write some Vam fanfiction" so I kind of let it slide for a few days. But here it is! So enjoy!
