Summary: From childhood friends to lovers, but is it all what it seems?
AN: This is AU...so stuff is off. I was too lazy to look up the dates, so I just put the ages. For this first one, Bam is four and Ville is six. BTW, Cookie to those who can figure out who the bullies are! :D

Six year old Ville Valo walked with his momma through a park near his house and marveled at the colors around him, the reds, oranges, yellows, greens, and browns of fall.

Even the sky was tinged with shades of pink and purple as the day's end approached.

"Momma," he cried as a jet streaked across the sky,"lookit that!"

She smiled fondly as he pointed excitedly and nodded. "Yes, kulta, I see," she said kindly as she stroked his soft brown curls, picking him up to rest on her hip.

She walked slowly so he could see everything, reaching a picnic table and taking a seat, with Ville on her lap.

The sounds of the animals in the little wood behind them and the rustle of the breeze through the trees blanketed Ville and his momma in peace and relaxation.

...Peace and relaxation that was shattered a few seconds later by a loud cry of upset.

Ville hopped down from his momma's lap and ran toward the cries, hearing his momma race after him but not stopping. Something inside him told him whatever had made that cry needed to be helped, and he was meant to be the one to do it.

He rounded a bush and immediately saw the one who was so distressed. Two boys, a tall, thin blonde and a shorter, scrubby brunette were holding onto a small black bear that looked like one too many playful puppies had gotten ahold of it, dangling it above the head of a much smaller boy with tiny, stubby arms and a mop of brown curls on his head while he reached anxiously out for his teddy.

Another cry came from the smaller boy. "Gimme back, pwease!" He reached out again for the bear held cruelly only just out of his grasp.

"We think you're too old for teddies, vittu," sneered the older brunette, swinging the mentioned bear higher and higher over his head.

That was the last straw for Ville; he didn't know what vittu meant, but he'd been told never to call someone that because it was a very mean insult. His parents had caught him screaming it once and he'd been sent to his room for a full day to "think about what he'd done".

Whatever it meant, he knew the little boy hadn't done anything to warrant being called such a thing, and that angered him. He stepped out of the shadow of the bush and shouted, "Give that kid back his bear," glaring menacingly at the bullies.

They snorted. "What will you do if we don't?"

Ville didn't fight often, but the sight of that poor little boy with tears running down his cheeks as his lip quivered and his breath became shaky was too much for him to walk away from. "I'll-I'll beat you up," he threatened, waving a clenched fist and baring his teeth.

The blonde leapt at him, landing a punch to his eye and one to his lip, but that was all he managed before Ville kicked him hard enough to bruise and pushed him off him, staring intimidatingly at the other boy, who quickly dropped the teddy bear and ran off, the blonde limping after him.

Ville walked over to where the small boy stood, staring at the ground nervously, and handed him his bear, smiling reassuringly. The boy snatched it and held it to his chest, hugging it tightly. It seemed to feel the same because he shyly lifted his head and gave Ville a toothy grin.

Ville was struck dumb by the biggest, bluest pair of eyes he'd ever seen, nodding as the only thought running through his head was Pretty.

He shook his head of that thought as he heard a small voice say, "Fank oo."

Ville's grin grew wider. "You're welcome, kulta."

The boy shook his head at those words. "I no kota, I Bam Bam." He held out the hand that wasn't clutching the bear as if to shake, and shake Ville did, with a kind reply.

"Hey, Bammie, I'm Ville."

"W-Willa," Bam tried, rolling the word on his tongue.

Ville nodded, laughing. "Close enough, Bam."

Bam bit his lip. "I hug oo, Willa?", he asked quietly, and Ville's childish heart warmed at how sweet he sounded. He nodded, opening his arms and Bam jumped into them, wrapping his small, strong arms around Ville's waist and squeezing.

"Why the hug, Bammie?", Ville asked, whispering in his ear.

Bam buried his face in Ville's chest. "You gimme'd Ozzy back, Willa."

"How old are you, love?" Ville asked and Bam pulled away, holding up four fingers.

"This many." He said proudly and Ville smiled.

"Four, huh," at Bam's nod he continued,"well, I'm six, gonna be seven soon."

Bam's eyes widened in awe, but the moment was broken by a female voice shouting, "Brandon!"

Bam looked kinda sad. "I gah go now, Willa."

Ville nodded, reluctantly letting Bam go. Before the boy raced off, though, he turned to Ville again.

"Willa, oo my fwend?", he asked hesitantly, and Ville nodded eagerly, grinning at him.

He smiled his toothy smile and waved. "Kay. Bye!" He ran across the park to have a blonde woman with a pretty smile pick him up and cuddle him.

Ville ran back to his momma, leaping into her waiting arms. "I saved Bammie's teddy, momma," he babbled happily and she just nodded with a smile, hugging Ville close as she walked home.
