Anyone on my friends list know anything about digital camera's?Basically, I'm looking into buying a new digi cam, as mine is pretty terrible, (1.3 mega pixels, which I'm almost positive they don't make anymore!), and I could do with any help that anyone could give me. I know bits and pieces of what I'm looking for; I want at least 5/possibly 6 mega ( Read more... )

I advise you go into Jessops in Nottingham (it's over the road from Selectadisc), tell them as much as you know in regards to what you're looking for, and obviously your budget, and they should be able to recommend something good to you. x

Thankyou. Did you know there's a Jessops in Mansfield? I quite like this one I've found:

Ha, I really had no idea.

But aye, that looks like a pretty safe looking camera. If you're not too bothered about size, and want something more professional, I'd thoroughly recommend this: http://www.dpreview.com/news/0407/04072805fujifinepixs5500z.asp You can probably find it online for around £200, and for the price, it really is pretty awesome.

The Canon PowerShot S1 IS and Olympus Camedia C-725 are also pretty decent cameras for the money, despite both only being 3 megapixels.. but yeah, try a few out, see what you think. x

Thankyou for your help! I did look at that one, or something very similar but I'm dead shallow and didn't like the manly-ness of the black haha.

To be honest for my needs it doesn't need to be fantastic! I think I'm going to feel like a twat in Jessops though. I was talking to my boss about it today and he gave me bits and pieces of advice, (he runs the photography business and stuff).

Although it's not exactly what you're looking for, I bought mine recently and I love it. It's a Sony Cybershot, and everyone knows that with Sony you get what you pay for. It's only a 4.1 pixel but I'm told it doesn't really matter unless you want to make huge pictures. It was only £150 and it makes videos with good sound and stuff.

Failing that, I know Cannon Powershots are excellent, although they're quite bulky and heavy.

Thankyou for the advice. Yeah that's what my boss said about having a lot of megapixels, because I'm not really bothered about making poster sized prints.

I'm not really bothered about the amount of mega pixels, as to be honest, you don't really need any more than 5 unless your printing off poster sized prints, and all I really want are photo sized ones. I'm more bothered about Macro, and the colours and stuff.

Yeah, megapixels can be handy if needed but yeah, you need no more than 5! You can get 5 that interpollate to 10 now and all that stuff, its mad. Ive had a 2megapixel one for about a year and its always been okay. Sure its not the best, but its reliable and takes good pictures, and thats all you really need a cam for! The Fujifilms are always good im told!
