grade 8 girls grow up you know, into fine, upstanding young women.

hey, let's talk about this: have you listened to any talk talk besides spirit of eden? mark hollis' solo album? laughing stock? the colour of spring? even it's my life?

yo!
mark hollis' solo album was what got me into talk talk. i listened to
it for almost two years. it's kind of the first album that really ever
blew my mind. in 1998, i didn't know what an ok computer even was.
laughing stock i know pretty intimately too. (not as well as the mark
hollis album, or spirit of eden, mind you.) i also have "it's my life" and
thought that i had the colour of spring but don't know where
it is. maybe i never had it, though. actually maybe kristine and quentin
have that one on record, i don't know.

anyway, that mark hollis album is maybe my favourite of all this stuff.
it's a really really quiet album. and really really wonderful stuff. the early
talk talk stuff can be fun too, though. the colour of spring and it's my life
are kind of duran duran-ish new wavy and even danceable.

ummm...

i ask because i just went on a spree and bought it's my life, the colour of spring and laughing stock. laughing stock is on the way, the others i've listened to just once. they definitely show promise. i thought i'd check with you before ordering the mark hollis. it's harder to get.

though i've had spirit of eden for over a year now i've only recently begun to really get into it. it's possibly the greatest thing i've ever heard. "take my freedom!" holy shit, it makes me want to cry every time. so, thanks for the words of wisdom eh?

yup. they're really really good. i think you'd like the mark hollis
album too. i've got this album with paul webb on it and beth
gibbons (the girl from portishead) too. it's called beth gibbons
and rustin man or something. and apparently paul webb and lee
harris had a band after talk talk called o'rang or something. i've
never heard them though.
