Chinese web censorship

Wow. al_fruitbat has told me all of this before, but it always amazes me how a country can think that this sort of control is a good thing. People aren't allowed to use the words 'human rights' in posts, all blogs must be registered....

Not wanting to start a political discussion... just kinda going 'hmm'...

But... how can we control subversive writings if we do not monitor and, where necessary, censor the writings of citizens?

Oh, Chinese - you meant in China. :o)

There are groups developing software to work around this sort of control...

If it was in English, people would just start using "fr**d*m", "d*m*cr*cy", etc instead of the real words. Dunno what the Chnese equivalent of this sort of munging is, but I bet there is one. I very much doubt if censorship software can effectively keep pace with human ingenuity.
