So my dad finally found out about the big one the other day. It must've been peeking out under my shirt. I'm pretty sure he knew about the smaller celtic cross on my back. I mean he had to, we'd been to Hilton Head and at the beach and pools. But I got the Koi fish after I had already been out of the house for a year ( Read more... )

That is gorgeous, and the meaning makes it even more beautiful. That is an excellent, tasteful, and meaningful way to carry the memory of your mom around with you! Now if only I could muster the courage to get my own... :P

thanks! i was kind of worried about how it would be recieved. i thought the first thing people would say is, "ew why do you have a fish tattooed on you?" maybe people do think that, they are just nice enough to keep it to themselves. =P

and be careful! once you muster the courage you'll love it and you'll want more. i started out with a small celtic cross on my back. then had the star on my hip done. then after mom died, decided to tie in a huge sidepiece to that star. and now that i'm gonna start modeling (hopefully!) for the tattoo studio, i'm gonna get one more. this has to be it, though! LOL.

Well, it's not just a fish, it's a pretty, pretty koi!

I definitely have to be careful about getting too many tattoos if I get a first one. I'm trying to decide what I want and where I want it, and I have six possible locations in mind. I'm worried that once I get one, I'll love it so much that I get one in all of those places! And being that I haven't figured out what to do with my life career-wise, easily visible tattoos wouldn't be the greatest idea... but... but they're so cool! :P

LOL i hear ya! i've thought of all the places i'd want to get tattooed. and they're filling up! i'm starting to worry about that last part. cause i still don't know what i'm going to end up doing job wise, but this last one i want to get on a visible part of my lower arm. so i'm struggling with it.=/

very sweet. everyone in my family (except me, cuz i'm a baby) got memorial type tattoos after my grandfather passed away.

i think it's really special, doing something like that.
