Marvel Ends The Fantastic Four
Posted by mdalonzo - Thursday, October 12, 2006 9:59 AM
The Marvel Universe has its permanent fixtures. Spider-Man, The Hulk, X-Men, The Fantastic Four...or, it did have the Fantastic Four, until Marvel decided it was time to wrap up the series after 45 years. Fantastic Four: The End begins this month, and is a four-part series that will chronicle the end of the team.
Hopefully, this is not just a ploy to sell more books, and they're actually gonna go away. I would hate to see this be another Death of Superman, which was fine, but you knew damn well he'd be back. Perhaps The End will end all doubt.

Consumers Ready To Buy PS3
Posted by sjohnson - Thursday, October 12, 2006 7:54 AM
A recent study from analysis company Interpret* should be music to the ears of gamers worried about the future of Sony's upcoming game next-gen console. The firm's research indicates consumers are ready to pony up the dough for PlayStation 3s in droves.
Interpret's studies, released to NextGen, show:
"8.9 million U.S consumers 'are prepared' to pay full price ($500 or $600) for the PlayStation 3 this fall, compared to 5.7 million consumers who are willing to buy Wii at $250 and just 800,000 people who are willing to pay full price for Xbox 360 ($300 to $400)."
Interesting numbers, eh, folks? If they're anything even close to correct, the question becomes how will Sony manage to get that many systems to market? And can eBay survive the massive number of PlayStation 3 auctions that are sure to hit after the launch date?

Florida Court To Play 'Bully'
Posted by sjohnson - Wednesday, October 11, 2006 3:20 PM
Everyone's favorite game-hating, lawsuiting attorney, Jack Thompson, just won what he described as a "major victory" today in a Florida court.
Thompson is suing to force an injunction on Rockstar and Take Two's upcoming wedgie-simulator Bully.
The judgement: The court will review the game before its release to determine whether on not it deserves status as a public nuisance. If the court finds Bully objectionable, it could issue a temporary order preventing sales of the title to minors.

Posted by sjohnson - Wednesday, October 11, 2006 2:08 PM
Hey, TheFeed reader, do you want to look as awesome as TheFeed mistress Dana Vinson, without having to go down to Hot Topic and plunk down money on World Of Warcraft t-shirts?
We gotcha covered. TheFeed and G4 are giving away a variety of terrific WOW shirts, and all you gotta do is write a haiku based on World or Warcraft and
submit it here. We'll pick out our favorites, judges subjectively for originality, general radness and proper syllable count. (That's 5-7-5, kids) and send the winners some schwag.
The contest runs for a week and you can enter as many times as you like.
Here's a couple samples to give you an idea:

Posted by sjohnson - Tuesday, October 10, 2006 4:30 PM
The internets gaming press is all aflutter with the thought that mega-game Gears of War will be released in demo form within the next two days.
The source of the rumor is an email sent to subscribers to the Gears newsletter, wherein a bunch of hyperlinks embedded in text point to a viral page with the URL "
http://www.gearsofwar.com/48hrsexclusiveaccess, "and spell out "Marcus Fenix has been located. You have 48 hours to mobilize."
I'm so excited I can barely contain myself.

"Saw 3" Poster Made From Real Blood
Posted by mdalonzo - Tuesday, October 10, 2006 11:14 AM
In a move that eerily recalls a stunt that Kiss pulled in the 70's, the poster for Saw III was made using a vial of Tobin Bell's blood. For those that don't know, Bell plays the torturous Jigsaw in the films. The initial run of posters will be 1,000, and they will sell for $20 each, with all of the proceeds going to the Red Cross.
Seems a little strange that there would be some sort of charity to be had from the Saw films, but, good on them.
The sequel will open at Hallowe'en, and is sure to suck.
