People in the world get different emotions. Some frustration, greed,
bitterness, disgust or sadness. I can distinctly remember when I felt
disappointment, anger, and love, more like lust actually. But the most
I remember is when I was happy for the first time in my whole life. I
felt like I was the happiest person alive. It was when I met my Best
Friend, Leigh Keller.
It all started when my father told me that we were
moving to the east coast. My first reaction was shock and worriment. I
didn't know what to say to him or any of my other friends. I wasn't too
upset actually. I can remember saying goodbye to my only true friend
there. And thinking to myself "What's going to happen now? Will I be
able to survive?"
My first day of school in Middletown was a total
culture shock. I haven't seen people like "them" before. I was so used
to surfer girls, shopping at Hollister and Abercrombie & Fitch
boys. I was looking at these different kids. These were wearing "punk"
clothing, as I would say. And Black all around. All about music,
skateboarding, how you look and act. I was practically lost. Because
here I was, blue jeans, O' Neil sweatshirt and navy blue old school
vans. With my hair tied back into a pony tail. First thing that I
noticed was this blonde haired girl with black shirt, blue pants, and
eye liner, thick around her eyes. My first thought was "Wow, this is
bizarre…How am I supposed to survive this world?" Then my teacher sent
me to sit next to her. And that was where it all started.
I sat there thinking about where I was going to sit
at lunch, and how I was supposed to learn to open up my locker. Then
she said something. We ended up talking because she was in all my
classes. I felt relieved in a way. We would call each other every
night. Go to each other's houses. Instant message every night. We
became entirely inseparable. People knew us by "Leigh and Tonya" every
weekend we were at my house, or hers. Whenever we would hang out with
other people, it would be Me, Her, and that other person. We were best
friends. And did everything together. Leigh and I were like sisters.
It's hard to believe we weren't related. Just like siblings, Leigh and
I fought like cats and dogs. But then she moved to Florida, during our
second summer together.
I guess that phrase "Every good thing has to come to
an end sometime." Is exactly correct. Just the thing to tear us apart,
or so I thought. Leigh and I still talk, but it's not the same. She and
I were like the cherry on an ice cream Sunday. She made me happy.
Before I wasn't the happiest person alive. I wasn't really happy with
my life. Anyone could throw on a smile every day, and act like
everything's alright. But inside they could feel like their dying. It's
just that simple. The first day I met Leigh, I was complete. It was
like the first Christmas for a toddler.
i miss her more than anything
