I don't post often, so I don't expect many people to see this and give it much more than a half a thought, but I plan to be working on a non-fiction book over this coming summer. I enjoy writing, recreationally, and have been told in the past that my expository writing is nothing to be ashamed of. This, however, is new territory ( Read more... )

Not sure how helpful I can be, but interviewing people for field research was what I did for my degree, so if you want I might have some tips?

What are you curious about?

Honestly, I really feel like my organizational skills have, if anything, gotten worse since high school and I'm really just looking for tips on compiling notes and making sure that I can keep everything in some sort of order that makes sense.

In as much as I'm trying to fill in gaps in the history of his life through interviews, I suspect I'm going to get a lot of additional disjointed and incomplete information. I can also only assume that I'll get more than one contradictory story. I suppose I really just need to figure out how to organize facts that I can't be sure of and putting things together to make sense. I'm a little overwhelmed at the thought, really.
