Teen Be-gone! Are annoying teens hanging outside your place of business, scaring away potential customers? You could try "zit lamps" which use a blue light to bring out blemishes on teens' "spotty skin." Recently I read an article about aberrant and immoderate religious food practices in the middle ages. It was about fasting to excess, giving away food, miracles with food, etc. It was quite informative. However, after about the third page, the author stopped referring to these aberrant food practices AS aberrant and just referred to them as food practices. "Food practices were used to rebel against the family" etc. I think a similar type of linguisitic eliding is at work in this article. "Horrible people who happen to be teenagers" has been shortened to "teenagers" with the result of appearing horribly bigoted, when the author probably knows some quite nice teenagers.
