dry your eyes and listen up! this appeared in last week's Time Out New York.
Q: My coworkers and I used to go to the Blind Tiger after work for happy hour. Now that it's closed, we're looking for a new place. Can you recommend a similar venue that can accommodate a group at a table (not bar seating)?

A:
We like the clandestine, subterranean spot Jimmy's (43 E 7th St between Second and Third Aves, 212-982-3006) -- an East Village bar and restaurant that has an impressive European beer selection, medieval-style passageways that lead to different rooms, and plenty of rough-cut wooden tables that can easily pack in 8 to 10 people. On the West Side, Brass Monkey (55 Little W 12th St between Washington St and Tenth Ave, 212-675-6686) provides a casual respite in the trendy Meatpacking District for those looking to avoid the scene. The wooden tables can be pushed together for larger groups and there are 20 beers on tap.
