For a ‘beginning of the year’ post that I never wrote, I was going to make a list of all the books I read last year ( Read more... )

I made me really sad, and thankful that I didn't grow up in that kind of scenario. By half-way through the book I couldn't stand the narrator, either, but overall I really enjoyed it.
Sorry I've had it so long without giving it back. I shall drop the hint/book to Jack. If he doesn't read it I'll put pudding in his socks or something mildly threatening.

the narrator was indeed annoying, but i found the elements of the story itself interesting enough to keep going. no worries about getting it back to me anytime soon.

oh, and put pudding in his socks anyway!!! =P

I still have "Books of Blood" in my to-read pile.

Have you read any other Chuck Palahniuk?

I found 'Books of Blood' enjoyable. "In the Hills, The Cities" is my favorite story.

'Diary' is the only other Chuck Palahniuk stuff I've read before last year.

I didn't like "Haunted" so much, I started looking for the "twist" in his stories too much. But I think he's back to form with his latest, "Rant."

Maybe I've asked you this already, but I don't remember your response. Well in any case I am pretty sure I didn't ask you online.

What did you think of Siddhartha? Have you read Demian? Which did you like better?

I found both good, but frustrating...almost like they were rough drafts of something that could have been ten times better. I've wondered if perhaps reading it in German would give me a different impression. But I have to admit, my German probably isn't good enough.

heh...uh, i don't know who you are!
but I liked Siddhartha...but it kinda made me a bit sad. I'm sure it's something I will read multiple times.
I haven't ever read Demian, though it's been recommended to me by more than a few people.
