Too bad you weren't here, Pride gets bigger each year lately but I attribute that to the large numbers of straights who show up. I have mixed feelings about that but please take no offence.
Just, see, you know that I've had to defend my own queerness with my own blood.
Anyhow, got up too late to ride in parade but rode in the dyke march yesterday with the dykes on bikes, with whom I clearly do not quite fit despite meeting the basic criteria. Lotsa motorcycles, was fun.

I'm not exactly 100% straight ;P
More of an 80/20 sort of split.

It was an awesome day and I think everyone who knows, loves, and accepts gay people SHOULD march. We need tolerance all ways around. Someone we were with actually told us how much it meant for him to have people there supporting his rights.

This is gonna sound caustic I realize but I remember when Pridefest was queerspace and it was a time to celebrate being queer and being surrounded unabashedly by other queers. More importantly it marked the anniversary of the Stonewall riot in which I guarantee no straights participated apart from bashing in queer skulls.
I hate privilege and I personally (mark that I mean this to speak only for me) feel that straight people are crashing the goddamned party.
I've rarely had and never needed any support from straights or other queers. I suppose I burn my candle at both ends you could say but I've truly never fit anywhere, even amongst other queers, but still that's as close as I've come and I don't take kindly to outsiders inviting themselves into my world when I'm not welcome in theirs.

I might also add that the past election showed me precisely how many straight people are out there supporting my rights.
And as a transwoman on top of it, well, fuck, there are laws against my very existance on the books still in much of America.
