I'm attempting to patiently wait for the Creature in the Case lol. I just finished reading Sabriel last night for the fourth time now. Normally I don't like to read a book more than once but there is something about the trilogy I love so much that I can actually enjoy reading the books over again ( Read more... )

I never really noticed that. I guess I just sort of took it for granted. I didn't really think any of the books were supposed to take place in "our" world, they just needed something for us to anchor ourselves on...

I always felt that the books took place in this world...just that things were different. That's the great thing about books though, everyone has their personal interpretation of the story.

Yes, I agree with that last statement.

Have you ever read The Ragwitch or any of the Keys to the Kingdom books by Nix? Having a portion of the stories (mostly the beginning) in a world we are familiar with (aka our world) seems to be a common theme in his books, so it wouldn't suprise me if Ancelstierre was supposed to be like Earth. It just didn't have the right... feel for me.
