i must say, too, that Lirael just had an extra ... something to it. Sabriel was clearly well written and all, but Lirael encompassed so many all ready understood concepts that as well as building on them and introducing more that it just had a "meatier" feel to it. Abhorsen was also good, but i found it a little hard to keep up with all the goings on and changing between all of the groups travelling around the place at various times - a little too busy. Lirael was a nice medium.
Yes, I agree with the whole "medium thing" (although I liked the fast pace in Abhorsen). Plus I loved the reaction of people seeing how large the paperback version is. I liked see the wheels being set into motion.
