Small slice of the past semester

I have been pushing myself hard in a lot of ways this semester, or at least harder than I used to. This also includes going to the gym and not only pushing myself to greater physical limits, but also having tangible results in gaining weight. I never really used to run that much before, but I started to this semester and as I was running on the ( Read more... )

Jealous. I've been to the gym all of once this quarter, and then I couldn't move for five days. That's a sad state.

Hey Takeo
I stumbled here through Anna R's journal

I remember a while ago you asked me something about working out in my lj and I thought you were just making fun of me

It's cool to hear that somebody else is into exercise. What kind of gym have you been going to? Have you been lifting as well as doing the treadmill? How's the weight gain progress going?

I don't know if you knew that I used to be super obsessed with all this stuff. I still go to the gym and put a fair amount of effort into the food choices I make, but I used to be kind of nutso about it all.

nah man, I've been going to the gym for quite some time now.

I've been going to my schools gym and they are pretty well outfitted with all sorts of equipment.

I mostly lift, using the treadmill more as a supplementary cardio warm-up, or just a quick way to get my blood flowing incase I don't have time for a full workout. My weight gain is pretty weak, I'm maxing out only 2 pounds plus.

The main problem is the diet. I'm pretty trying to effect a gain in mass on a more or less vegan diet, which generally means lots of peanut butter and mad bananas. It ends up being that I have to eat constantly constantly throughout the day in order to really gain anything.

But I like it, working out and exercising is great, I think everyone should do it.

Yeah nuts and nut butters are great. So is oil. Are you keeping track of calories at all or are you just trying to generally eat a lot?

I've successfully gained a lot of weight in the past (gained it, took it off, gained it, took it off). To really do it I had to be kind of grossly full a lot of the time, but I always kept track of calories so if things weren't moving in the right direction I could make adjustments. For some people it's kind of insane how many calories are actually needed to gain even just five pounds and have it stick.
