Isn't 7 in japanese 'hichi' (sp?) ? Checking.. hmm no. That's the one we learned in karate. Apparently it isn't the 'ancient' japanese system either.

Weird. I wonder where it came from. All the numbers are the same except for 7 and 4. Actually wait. 4 is apparently Yon. We say chi, but we use yon to mean fourth. And for seventh, we say Na. Soooo there's something going on here.

Someone enlighten me. :)

It was Ryan's uncle Bruce who told us that Nanaimo= 7 potatoes. He lived in Japan for many years, so I could ask him for you. What are you asking :P?

Ahh I don't know. It's probably not worth trying to forward the question to him. I'll ask someone myself, someday. A day when I talk to someone who speaks Japanese. :)
