Aww, yay for the dress. You're going to look stunning in it.

Your dream sounds super exciting. Too bad we can't learn to drive standard via dreams, eh? That'd just make life so much easier and a bit less stressful (unless we ended up driving like dream-Sara).

Oh, and my mouth is watering at the thought of slow cooker Lumberjack Ribs. Have fun!

Thanks! I'm excited :) And I hope Ryan likes the dress too!! I can't tell if he will love it or hate it, but I told him he needs to love it even if he hates it :P

I was so happy to be with you throughout all the whacky wedding dress trips today! And the dress you got was stunning! You chose so well, and it looks great on you :)

Also, a non-open bar is NOT "always tacky"! That's such antequated advice.

Or if it is, S and I are embracing tackiness since we're not having a host bar... so plplplplpl to you, Island Bride! Fuck that shit.

I agree. I'd say out of the weddings we have been to, it's about 60/40 pay bar to open bar. We are all too young/poor and have parents with expectations of "well my wedding cost $700 total" to afford an open bar for 100 people. The wedding industry is so bunk.

So bunk. It's so skewed from reality. Like what I was saying in the car yesterday about getting lost in thinking about what's expensive for a wedding dress vs. what's expensive for a dress. Expectations are so extravagantly high for weddings, I think it puts a lot of people in tough financial situations! Like, you drop $10K-$20K on a wedding and then can barely make mortgage payments. Everyone does this and it's expected/normal. It's so, so weird.

Wellllllll...he did try to teach me on the 240, but I'm not ready to learn yet (I'm stubborn!). I feel like Ry's overconfident in me and pushes a bit too fast, which causes minor meltdowns. I waited until I was 20 or so to actually get my licence--one day I was like I'M GOING TO LEARN TO DRIVE, signed up for lessons and did it. I'll probably do the same with stick driving.

I feel similarly about driving Nathan's car, even though I've learned to drive stick. I'm just not at a point where I feel comfortable, and it's like some switch has to flip on to get there. (actually, apparently talking about it helps, because I feel slightly nearer to "there" than before I wrote this!)

That is sooo exciting about the dress! I can't wait to see it (even if I have to wait till October)!!

I don't think stick driving could go that badly. If you ever have time for a lesson, give me a call. It'll be fun, 100% guaranteed :)
