Name: gina
Age: 18
Music/Entertainment/TV
[1] Whats your view on using sex to sell music? Every industry uses some kind of ploy these days to sell their products. In the music industry I think everything has become extremely oversexed and that many artists have resorted to selling their bodies instead of their music now.
[2] What do you think about thetruth.com ads? They do what they need to do to get the facts about smoking out to people. Even though I smoke I would never down them because these are the facts that smokers need to know to propel them to quit and that non-smokers need to know to keep them from smoking.
[3] Have you ever watched porn? What's your opinion? Yes I've watched porn and I didn't really think anything different of it. To me, it was just like watching another movie with friends. Perhaps it would have been different in the company of a significant other but I mostly just got a laugh out of it with my friends.
[4] What's your opinion on "reality" shows? Reality shows are far from real in my opinion. They are too hyped up and now it's starting to leak that conflicts among people on these shows are staged by therapists. I think it's pointless for people to watch these so called "reality" tv shows that they think they may be able to relate to because they are anything but real.
[5] Do you believe that TV and the general view of the public has desensitized us to emotion as a species? I think that TV and the general view of the public are not the only things to be blamed for the desensitized emotions of humans these days. I think that the internet and the increase in materialism and fast food chains has caused people to live a faster paced life in which they have little to no time to reflect on their time and, therefore, people have no time to think about how they feel.
Politics/Opinion
[1] Are you pro-choice or pro-life? I'm pro-choice because I don't think that anyone should be allowed to make the decision for another woman as to whether or not she should be allowed to have an abortion.
[2] What's your opinion on under-age drinking? I won't lie and say I haven't done it. However, in my experience under-age drinking was pointless and only caused drama. Every person obviously makes their own decisions but I don't think that under-age drinking is a wise one especially when as teenagers, the body is still adjusting its hormone levels and the individual may not be emotionally stable enough to understand not to depend on alcohol.
[3] What are your thoughts on war? Clearly there are some cases where war has been inevitable. I have never liked the idea of war, especially civilian deaths. I think that many times words could handle situations better than bombs and guns.
[4] Which political party do you favor and why? I haven't been able to vote yet having just turned 18 in December. However, when I get to vote I know I will either vote Democratic or Liberal because Republican candidates are too conservative.
[5] What do you think about gay marriages? I have always been a firm believer of the saying "to each his own". I don't think that it's fair for the government to say who people can and cannot marry. I also disagree with the government denying marriage benefits to homosexual couples. Love is love and as time goes by people may realize and accept this fact.
[6] What is your opinion on racism? I accept people regardless of which race they are because I have always theorized that if I give respect to people then I will receive it back. I also partially owe it to the fact that I was raised to look past appearance/race of a person and get to know them for who they are rather than what they look like.
Your Choices. And fucking explain them.
[1] If you could get away with anything, what would you do? To some people it may not be what they would call "getting away with anything" but to me it is. I would love to be able to bring back the old Lili St. Cyr and Betty Paige style pinup look and pose in Playboy magazine to prove that women can be sexy without baring everything. I have to wait until I'm done with college though or I'll lose my scholarships.
[2] If given the choice would you choose knowledge of what is to come, or spontaneity? Most of my life has been spontaneous and crazy. It has never really been predictable for me and I would definitely choose for just one day to see what knowledge of what was to come and certainty of the future was like for me. I like trying new things and I've always wondered what it would be like it my life were more predictable.
[3] Would you kill someone for a sum of money? I couldn't kill anyone for any sum of money. The price of someone's life is not negotiable. Everyone is cared for by someone whether they know it or not and for them to be taken away from the people who care about them just so I could make a quick buck would be unfair.
[4] If you had to lose your eyesight or your hearing, which would it be and why? I would rather lose my hearing than my eyesight because I have always loved to read and write. I want to make a career out of my writing and doubt I could ever go a day without reading and writing. Plus, I love sitting outside at night and looking at the stars. I wouldn't enjoy the night as much without being able to find constellations.
[5] If you had three wishes (excluding wanting more wishes), what would they be? 1) I would want my mom to find ultimate happiness. She has sacrificed for me so much over the years while she raised me that I would sacrifice whatever I needed to for her to be completely happy with everything in her life. 2) I would wish that my writing would be published. It doesn't even need to be critically acclaimed, although it would be nice, I just want my voice heard in the literary world. 3) I would wish for my sister and I to always be friends, even though it may sound corny to people who don't even know me besides what they read on the screen. She is undoubtedly my lifeline and I have learned so much from her and she has helped me to grow as a person and I would be devastated if we lost each other somehow.
[6] Do you choose to believe in religion/God? I have always been uncertain of what I believe in when it comes to religion. I don't know what I believe in because there are so many different religions and I enjoy learning about all of them. I believe in a greater force, I can't say for sure if I think it's God, but I know that there is something else in this world that keeps it going.
Hypothetical and Personal
[1] Do you care what others think of you? To me, there is a difference between not caring and "not caring". Of course to a degree I have to care what others think of me otherwise I would never have gotten anywhere in life. If people didn't care what others thought of them how would they learn to respect others? To a degree I do care but once that mark has been met if people can't accept me I just say "Fuck 'em".
[2] Explain the perfect school day (classes, students, etc.): My perfect schoolday is going to my Reading Popular Culture class and engaging in interesting conversations and debates about the different aspects of today's pop culture, then having lunch on the quad while writing in a journal, reading, or working on schoolwork, and then going to French class.
[3] Do you read or write often? I read and write everyday. Writing is going to be my career so I have to stick to my practice makes perfect theory and keep at it until I'm good enough to be published. I have to read everyday because I love reading and soaking up new vocabulary and going into the shoes of another person's life and thinking what it'd be like to be them.
[4] Why are you joining this community? This is the only rating community that I have come across that focuses more on opinions rather than the appearance of a person. That is truly more important than a few glamour shots I'd think.
[5] Give us your definition of bitch. A bitch to me is an empowered woman who speaks her mind and knows that no matter what others say, her opinion is what matters to her and she is pleased for having voiced it.
[6] Name something that is sacred to you and why it is. My blue journal is sacred to me because it is where I started writing my first novel. It is where I keep my most personal pieces of writing and I have learned a lot about myself as a person and writer from that journal by looking back on it. Plus, it's cool to see my progress as a writer as I read through it.
[7] Tell us briefly a time someone embarrassed you. A friend of mine enjoyed making fun of the fact that since I'd lost weight from a condition I'm healing from my breast size had decreased drastically. A song was made about it by my friend and it was sung in front of many people and then I just joined in and sang along because it really didn't matter to me whether I had double A's or double D's. Even though it was embarassing that my breast size was being broadcasted, I laughed it up.
[8] What is your favorite quote? "Don't dream it, be it" from the Rocky Horror Picture Show because it sums my lifestyle up. I don't envision the things I could be doing, I aspire to do great things and go for them.
[9] What inspires you? My mom, my sister, and my brother inspire me. No matter what we may have been through as a family there has always been a constant bond of "together-ness" that has taught me to be strong. That strength has inspired me to go for what I want in life no matter what the circumstances may be.
[10] Why are you here? What is your part in life? Discuss your point of view. I am here to have my writing published and read. I want my voice heard in the world and I want people to rather than say "That was a good book" be able to say "I understood what you were saying". I want people to be able to relate to what I write and connect with the characters on a level that only a few authors offer.
[11] How old were you when you realized you were going to die? I honestly can't remember when I realized I was going to die. When I was younger I would bring dead butterflies into my house because I thought they were still alive. I was about 6 when my mom caught on and found them in my Barbie house and explained that they weren't alive and that they couldn't fly anymore. I think that's when it first hit me that living things die.
[12] What types of people can you just not stand? I cannot stand fairweather friends. I have dealt with enough of them and am ready to go to college and make some new friends, while keeping a few of the old ones who have stayed true to themselves and me.
Last words? I have voiced my opinions and obviously you all have yours. While I do not regret stating any opinions I would like to have a little disclaimer here that says that I hope I have not offended anyone in any way. Because even though this is an opinion rating community, I would in no way want to offend anyone. Have a lovely night and thank you for taking the time to read my application.
