Nursing school is really hard. I love my little Stinky, but he makes it even harder ( Read more... )

What got me through was "dangling carrots", like how much more money and free time you will have when school is over, and how you will be able to _______, which you can't afford (or whatever) now. For me it was thinking about how I will have the money and free time to start snowboarding again, and start rafting again, etc. Whatever your reason for doing it is, remind yourself consistently. And know that it will TOTALLY be worth it when you are done. Honestly. It is so worth it. And it is true that working full time feels very spacious compared to nursing school. And you get paid for it.
What is up with your health? Are you okay?

That's what's keeping me there now. The light at the end of the tunnel. But it's still a year and a half away. The prospect of next term and the term after that being harder than this one is daunting to say the least. But, if I don't get it over with now the light at the end of the tunnel will be even further away.

I have some sort of ulcery condition that hasn't been diagnosed yet. I just had an endoscopy.
Plus depression which is worsened by stress and post partum. Yay!! Good stuff.

I think that you're doing awesome. I personally know how scary it can be.. I've been in some seriously dark places when everyone around you thinks your life is sooo fabulous... but things will be better, so much better, you'll forget how bad they really were. Just don't hide it.

You are doing your best and if you have to struggle your ass off for a B be proud of it. I was in school part time and couldn't do shit for homework.. my kids are big and pretty self sufficient (able to play in their room for hours) The hardest part is getting your mind to release fear... Have you tried Valerian root before? I've been taking it for my back as a muscle relaxer and it just so happens to work on my brain too! I don't know about the dangers of breastfeeding on it.

Do you get more down and stuck, or is anxiety a big issue too? Anyway, I love you and I'm here for you 24/7. Any icky thought you've ever had... I can relate, no "mommy" censorship needed.

:) Thanks. It helps to know people are there. I miss having time to spend with you! Damnit,

I'm not sure if Valerian is ok, I'll look it up, I'm sure it's in my drug book. But most things are not ok for lactation, which sucks, but it's usually because there's a lack of studies-who wants to experiment on their kid?

A "B" is not as bad as it could be. I should just be happy I'm passing. I am.

I would be more concerned if Elliot wasn't such a healthy boy... its scary to have to make decisions concerning the health of another person. You gotta just keep doing the best you can. Your not smokin' crack anymore. And the best thing you can do for him is take care of his mommy... there's always formula but he'll just spend the rest of his babyhood resenting you for having boobs. My dad said that's why he loves boobs 'cause he was a bottle baby of the 50's - I think its cause guys like boobs, but its a funny theory.

If they're breastfed they love boobs, if they're formula fed they love boobs. What's not to love?

I am concerned because Elliot seems grumpy since I started taking the Cymbalta. :(
