One of the most exciting things about becoming a nurse is that I will be a valuable volunteer. After I graduate I plan on volunteering some of my time abroad to help people in need.
Among other programs I am considering is this one in Guatemala:

That'll be awesome!!!!

My lifelong dream is to travel and work to bring human rights everywhere. It'd be really easy as a dr or nurse to do, but I'm so not there...instead I'm saving up to take classes in permaculture design and natural building. I'm hoping the political situation improves a bit in Haiti so I don't have to go there all by myself and can instead join an organization but if other ppl are too chickenshit I'd go alone.

Supposedly a dangerous political climate..upheaval, their gov't is poor and rather a mess and they get frequent kidnappings and stuff, esp. white ppl that might have money. There is an organization that had setup to go and then due to riots in '07 put the entire project on hold. I'd like to do an apprenticeship there but there is no one to do it with right now but hopefully by the time I can go there'll be others there already.

Honestly I think it'd be way safer to go to Haiti right now than Mexico.

I'd go anywhere happily, I'm not so picky really, only places I am not allowed to go are Somalia and Brazil.
