I think when you want to go to college, they assume that part and parcel of that is getting a well-rounded education. So you have to take all these classes that literally have nothing to do with what you want to do in life. It sucks (and it's what's keeping me from getting a degree right now) but that's the way it goes.
Hmm, loyalty in Hamlet. Now that IS interesting because when you really take a look at the play, there's not a lot of loyalty anywhere. Or, not from the main characters. ( I studied a lot of Shakespeare in college, can you tell?) Rozencratz and Gilderstern were loyal to Hamlet, even though they were decieved by the uncle and in the end betrayed by Hamlet as well. I'm not sure about Ophelia's loyalty to her father but she was trying to be loyal to all the men in her life (her father, brother and Hamlet) and in the end was tossed aside like so much trash.
I'd have to reread the play, though it's not something I ever had to write about in college, the idea of loyalty.
