A cold or chilled hamster goes into a deep sleep (like hibernation) and is apparently dead. Try a gentle warming with a hairdryer, or wrap in a wooly sock for a few hours in the airing cupboard...
A terrified hamster goes rigid and collapses, but can recover within a few days.
My hamster was cold so I thought it was dead I would think I buried it alive But I didnt bury it deep enough and my dog dug it up and dragged it around the yerd.
