Brady's Room:Naptime

Mar 28, 2004 19:42

Brady tried to lift her head but it was so heavy, had she just said wake up? It dawned on Brady that she meant she had to sleep first, a nap, watching as she was carried towards her room and the tears came to her eyes, "I don't wanna sleeeeep," she said in a whine, moving her right hand up to rub at her eyes. She wasn't tired, she wanted to play. " ( Read more... )

Trudy knew this was coming. It never failed especially right after Brady had a lot of fun. She just wanted to continue to play not caring that she was tired, thinking she had all the energy to run around all day. "I know you don't want to take a nap." She placed Brady on the bed and sat down next to her. "But maybe if you just lay down for a short bit...rest your eyes for a few minutes..." Trudy kept her voice calm, trying to convince her this was a good idea.

Brady flopped back into the pillow, rubbing her eyes with her fisted hands and crying now, mouth open, sobbing. "I'm not tired," she sobbed, "I don't wanna rest my eyes," she cried, drawing out each word with her sobs. She bent her legs at the knees and kicked the bed a little, then sat up again, moving to hug her Mommy, clinging to her, "Don't make me sleep Mommy please don't," she pleaded, pressing her face into her chest and crying.

Trudy took a deep breath. This is the part she hated the most. Several people had advised her to just let her cry, to ignore her pleas, but she found it too hard to do. She wanted Brady to be a happy child. Even when she was throwing fits. She gave her another quick hug before pulling her off and setting her back on the bed. "Okay. Don't sleep, but you have to rest here in bed. You know the rules are rest after lunch." She tried convincing her, taking the stuffed bunny one of the Eco's had made her setting it on the bed, resting the head on the pillow. "Look at that! Lily is tired. Why don't you lay down next to her and make sure she goes to sleep like a good bunny."

Brady began hiccuping with her sobs, but she stopped sobbing soon, rolling over and staring at the inanimate bunny object, how could you tell if she was asleep? Brady let her eyelids droop back down, hiccuping every once in a while, watching the bunny, now disgruntled at her Mommy. Lay down and rest, rules, make sure the bunny sleeps, these things made her pout, but soon she was closing her eyes, unable to fight it, sniffling a bit, her hiccups subsiding. She began sinking into the bed, the din of noise in the Mall lulled her and she stopped pouting, her face relaxing as she slipped into peaceful sleep.
