Bray returned to his room, feeling much better. His chat with Salene had helped to calm his nerves to a degree, and also showed him that it was okay to feel a little bit nervous anyway. It was a very special day, after all

Hawk nodded at Salene and dashed up the stairs from the foyer, turning at the top to head to Amber and Bray's room. He was so nervous now, he could feel his fingers growing cold, and Hawk was not usually one who was struck with nerves. The brave warrior of his Tribe, the Leader, the gatherer and protector of the entire Tribe, was now nearly quaking in his boots, nervous over what he had to do exactly, unsure. He just wanted to do everything right, if Trudy was right, if Amber truly respected and loved him enough to ask him to walk her down the aisle, then he didn't want to mess it up and let her down. He had no time to think about it now, it was time, Salene had said, and he had to tell Bray first. Clearing his throat as he approached their curtain, Hawk knocked on the frame of the door, "Bray?" he called, not wanting to intrude.
Bray had reached a point where he knew what he was going to say, and he'd gone through it in his mind a few times, too. The plain sheet of paper that he'd sat down with was now covered in little designs, some that looked a lot like the markings he had today - the design of Amber's ring.
From outside the room, Bray heard a man call for him - the Eco Hawk, he thought - and he got up off the bed quickly, throwing the paper and pen to one side.
"Yes, come in," he called back as he stood up and brushed down his clothes with his palms, his heart suddenly leaping to his throat as Hawk entered the room.
"Is it time?" he asked, eyes wide and alert as he waited for Hawk to speak.
"Aye," Hawk told him quickly, pressing his lips together in a firm line, "You look great Bray. I will go and get your Bride. Salene says you should head downstairs now, and I am to wait for Amber to be ready to come down. Everyone is waiting," he shifted from foot to foot, nervously, before giving Bray one last nod and escaping to Gel's Room.
"Thank you, Hawk," said Bray, though he had hardly time to get the words out before Hawk rushed off.
It was time. Bray's heart started to pound in his chest as he walked towards the doorway. He smoothed down his hair, then patted his trouser pocket one last time to make sure he still had the ring. Yes, it was still there - time to go.
Bray took a deep breath and stepped out of his room, realising that the next time he walked through this doorway, it would be as a married man.
