Still trapped with Salene

Bray awoke shivering, he was freezing resting against the wall. His whole body ached, he didn't feel rested at all. He looked round, the room was in darkness completely, he couldn't see anything ( Read more... )

Salene woke up in exactly the same position she'd fallen asleep in, curled up into a little ball, huddling under the covers for warmth. Her mouth was dry and her lips were cracking, and the tip of her nose was so cold it felt numb. She reached her hand up to touch it, thinking the warmth of them would warm her nose, but her hands were like ice, and she shivered. Salene put her hands over her mouth and blew but it did no good, even her breath felt cold. It was like a freezer in here, the board no longer helping, and she figured they must have cranked the air up to get around what she'd done. But, how'd they know? Ugh, too much thinking after waking up. She tentatively reached a foot across the bed and found it empty. Where was Bray? Had they taken him away in the night? Was he still in here? Salene rolled over slowly and glanced around the room ( ... )

Bray looked up at the light. It hurt his eyes, but it was light. As if the light was warming him, he managed to fight the cold and forced himself to stand up. Several joints clicked from being in awkward positions all night.

He tried to speak out, but he couldn't, he wanted to respond to what she'd said before he got up, but couldn't so he aimed himself towards the bed, shivering all the way.

Salene watched Bray, moving for the bed, still not talking to her. Fine, if that's the way he wanted it, if he was going to hold a grudge well, so could she. Salene moved to the bathroom slowly, the stone floor freezing against her bare feet, she'd have to remember to put her socks back on later at least, brrr. Salene closed the half door slowly, she was watching her flame. The hardest part was she'd forgotten about there being no candle holder, and well, well she needed to ration the candles so she snuffed the wick, as hard as it was to do, she wasn't just sick of the dark but now she was worried about how many matches she had left exactly. Salene did her stuff and washed her hands before picking up the candle again, pausing when she remembered her shirt on the door. She reached up and it crinkled at her touch, it was dry now but hard. She pulled it off of the door, crumpling it in a ball, well it was a rag now, so she just threw it in the direction of the canvas bag as she approached the bed ( ... )

Bray shivered, but he was beginning to feel warmer again. He felt Salene get into the bed, and pull the covers up. He shivered, he was cold, he rolled over from his side to his back, he was right up against Salene now, but she was warm. He hoped she didn't mind, but he needed heat.
