Musings of the Inner and Outer Child

Bridget, despite numerous efforts to the contrary, had begun reading self-help books again. This time, it happened to be The Last Self-help Book You'll Ever Need: Repress Your Anger, Think Negatively, Be a Good Blamer, And Throttle Your Inner Child , and to be quite honest, she was beginning to think that the title was extremely misleading. Tim had brewed tea because he knew Bridget was going to be in the rec room, and he was determined that it would be good.

So he'd let it steep for about half an hour.

Armed with something that sort of smelled like proper tea, sugar, and milk in his arms, he was heading through the door when he spotted Dixon. His eyebrows crawled up towards his hairline and he grinned, a bit incredulously.

Her son was missing. He'd been right there on his blanket just ten seconds ago, and now he was nowhere in sight.

"Oh god," She said, slightly disbelieving, because not even she could have cocked things up this badly. Forgetting where she'd put the clean nappies was one thing-- misplacing her son was another.

Fuck fuck fuck

She came to her feet quickly, and was headed out the rec room door to verbally assault whomever had thought it was a good idea to simply walk off with someone else's child, when she found both Tim and Dixon, the latter of which actually getting around on his own.

"Oh my god."

"Oh my God," Tim repeated, but happily, and scooted around to set down his items down on the nearest flat surface, then walked back, sliding his hand across her back before he dropped to a crouch in front of Dixon.

"Were you not going to tell your mum you were going off for a stroll?"

"A--apparently not!" Bridget said, interrupting herself with an incredulous laugh for a second. It really seemed like just yesterday, he'd learned how to sit up on his own. "Tim he's..." She trailed off, a bright grin spreading across her face.
