Tim had been thinking similar thoughts, and was feeling a bit bothered by the fact that... they didn't bother him as much as he thought maybe they should have. If you took the facts separately, then at home his Christmas would have been spent at the Wernhamm-Hog party drinking cheap beer and trying not to watch Daw have a grand time with her prat fiance and going home to sleep, alone, feeling numb because being frustrated would have been self indulgent and gotten him nowhere, knowing he'd wake the next morning to his parents, and then spend the day doing something mindless before going back to work again.

Which really wouldn't have changed the 'mindless' bit of it at all.

She nodded.

"He just sort of stared at it all, actually," Bridget said, looking over as Tim walked into the rec room. She was in the process of pulling off Dixon's boots, and hadn't quite gotten around to taking off her own coat and scarf yet.

"I'm not sure he knew exactly what was going on."

After all, to a child who'd only really seen sun and sand, snow was quite a big change.

"Yeah, I can imagine," Tim said, answering Bridget, but speaking to and in a tone for Dixon. "Skipped a season there, didn't we?" He tugged Dixon's hat off and smoothed his hair, then huffed a quiet laugh and did the same for Bridget.

Bridget grinned up at him, pulling off her scarf before Dixon got the idea to do it himself. "I almost thought he'd never get to see snow."

Though suppose snow appearing again is just as likely as entire island becoming populated by zebra or ferrets or similar.
