I saw the 50 book challenge on the LJ highlight spot ages ago, but found the actual group a bit naff (too little info about the books and too many comments i've just finish reading blablalaa and will read blablabalaa next week) and i don't know if i'd actually have time to read that many books a year anyway. i'm quite good at pretending to be too ( Read more... )

I love reading!!!

I can soooo recommend 'Varjak Paw' by S F Said. It's a kid's book, but it's bloody excellent. I read it in an afternoon and now want to get the sequel. Just thinking that if you like Angela Carter and Gaiman then you would like this one.

Do you like historical fiction at all? My current favourite author is Phillippa Gregory and se's written a dozen or so books.

(and I compulsivley read Gordon Ramsey's autobiography in a day at Christmas too - just couldn't put it down once I started!)

i love kiddie's books. so wil definately look Varjak Paw up when i go to the library, we do a very limited amount of fiction at uni, boohiss.

i used to read historical fiction ages ago, there's this finnish author called Mika Waltari who's written some brilliant stuff. i think only The egyptian has been translated which is good but not as good as Johannes Angelos. will check out Phillippa Gregory too!

If you can't find it let me know and I'll bring it at the weekend (can always leave it in the car so we don't have to carry it to Brighton and back!)

If you can be arsed to go somewhere to sign up, you already failed ;)

Anyway, what genres of books do you enjoy most Miss Bunster? There are loads that I love, but if you enjoy different types then they might leave you cold.

i enjoy all sorts, it depends on my mood. i'm not too keen on crime novels for some reason but will read the occasional few and chick lit bores me after having read four books...but yes, will read almost anything.

oh ans fiction-wise also prolly worth mentioning that stephen king hasn't so far impressed me hugely, but i guess gaiman, pratchett etc. are vaguely in the same genre so go figure.
