Shibby. Are you allowing the DVD player adequate ventilation on all sides? Perhaps it's over heating or something? I've never had one go bad on me. Hrm...
Unfortunately, in our disposable consumer culture, things like DVD players have gotten relatively cheap and cheaply made. (I say relatively cheap because most people can afford to have one, or more....witness the lack of videotapes...)
They just don't last like they used to. Personally I think it's terrible, because we then throw away so many used electronics, filling our landfills with toxic stuff.
There used to be repair guys for this stuff, but nowadays it's often cheaper and more cost effective to buy new.
ive had that happen... try leaving the dvd player unplugged overnight, then plug it in in the morning and just try to eject it. sometimes that resets it enough to let the disc escape.
