Year One

"It's no wonder no one can stand her," he said to Harry as they pushed their way into the crowded corridor.
"She"s a nightmare, honestly."
Someone knocked into Harry as they hurried past him.
It was Hermione. Harry caught a glimpse of her face - and was startled to see that she was in tears.
"I think she heard you."
"So?" said Ron, but he looked a bit uncomfortable. "She must've noticed she's got no friends."

Ron read the message, swallowed hard and looked sideways at the empty seat usually filled by Hermione.
The sight seemed to stiffen his resolve, and he nodded.

"Yeah, it will," said Ron fiercely. "You won't have to do all the work alone this time, Hermione. I'll help."
"Oh, Ron!"
Hermione flung her arms around Ron's neck and broke down completely.
Ron, looking quite terrified, patted her very awkwardly on the top of the head.
Finally, Hermione drew away.
"Ron, I'm really, really sorry about Scabbers..." she sobbed.

Silent and cliche?
All the things we did and didn't say
Covered up by what we did and didn't do
"Well, if you don't like it, you know what the solution is, don't you?" yelled Hermione;
her hair was coming down out of its elegant bun now, and her face was screwed up in anger.
"Oh yeah?" Ron yelled back. "What's that?"
"Next time there's a ball, ask me before someone else does, and not as a last resort!"
Ron mouthed soundlessly like a goldfish out of water as Hermione turned on her heel and stormed up the girls" staircase to bed.
Ron turned to look at Harry.
"Well," he spluttered, looking thunderstruck, "well - that just proves - completely missed the point -"

'Good luck, Ron,' said Hermione, standing on tiptoe and

Ron seemed to come to himself slightly as they walked back across the Great Hall.
He touched the spot on his face where Hermione had kissed him,
looking puzzled, as though he was not quite sure what had just happened.

"And it doesn't hurt that you've grown about a foot over the summer either," Hermione finished, ignoring Ron.
"I'm tall," said Ron inconsequentially.

She started breaking but she still wont let it show
The door behind them burst open.
To Harry's horror, Ron came in, laughing, pulling Lavender by the hand.
"Oh," he said, drawing up short at the sight of Harry and Hermione.
"Oops!" said Lavender, and she backed out of the room, giggling. The door swung shut behind her.

"You shouldn't leave Lavender waiting outside," she said quietly.
"She'll wonder where you've gone."
She walked very slowly and erectly toward the door.
Harry glanced at Ron, who was looking relieved that nothing worse had happened.
"Oppugno!" came a shriek from the doorway.

08. Trouble Sleeping- The Perishers

"She can't complain," he told Harry.

Ron seemed to be positively lighthearted about

and Hermione seemed cheery too,
though when he asked what she was grinning about
she simply said, "It's a nice day."

her face on her knees, shaking with what he knew were sobs.

Ron threw away the fangs and broomstick he was holding and responded
with such enthusiasm that he lifted Hermione off her feet.
“Is this the moment?” Harry asked weakly, and when nothing happened except that
Ron and Hermione gripped each other still more firmly and swayed on the spot, he raised his voice.
“OI!” There’s a war going on here!”
Ron and Hermione broke apart, their arms still around each other.
“I know, mate,” said Ron, who looked as though he had recently been hit on the back of the head with a Bludger,
“so it’s now or never, isn’t it?”
