I went with a .net as I am not an organization. *smiles*

I'd say go with .net if you're dead-set on that particular domain; if not, I agree that .com is usually better if you can come up with an alternative/derivative.

BTW, need hosting for that site? :P

I'd likely settle for .net...I feel like it doesn't matter all that much. Having .com just seems like the cool thing to do. :P

When I first registered my domain, beetlecat.com was taken (still is) so I asked on a business forum if I should go with the longer (and harder to remeber) beetlecatoriginals.com or the shorter beetlecat.ca

Pretty much everyone said to go with a .com domain. Simply because it is the most common and 'obvious' one. I mean, people might remeber the 'beetlecat' part. but if they type in beetlecat.com, then that is totally useless to me XD

I eventually registered the .ca one anyways because a shorter domain looks better as a watermark. And if people are confused they can google my name :p But I've kept the .com one too.

(don't go with .org anyways, since you're not an organization. I'm not sure you're allowed.)

Anyone can get a .org

And you can get a domain name from just about any country, as well. The only real restrictions are .edu and .gov

*reads wiki* you're right. Regardless, .net would be the better choice of the two since I still tend to assume that a .org domain is an organization or non-profit group.

Just to add to that list, only Canadian residents/businesses can get a .ca

*nods* .net sounds a little more 'pro' imo, and is catcher.

Is that so? Interesting! I always thought it would be neat to get a .nu ... but those are so expensive compared to the standard ones :
