We're engaged!
Ben proposed on April 29, 2007.
He took me to a botanical garden in North Carolina. It was a casual visit, with the usual plant-browsing, walking around looking at the trees and the lakes and the flowers.. yada yada.
When we finished looking he suggested we sit down and listen to some music. We popped in the iPod headphones and started listening to a song The song, which was the core of the proposal, was "Question" by the Old 97's. (It's on my myspace if you want to hear it.) You have to hear it to get the feel. After the song was over, he bent down on one knee and said, "You know what I'm gonna ask you" to which I only responded with a dumbfounded look, and then he asked. Cue crying, kissing, hugging, and strangers emerging from the bushes to congratulate us. The end! Heh.
A fun side anecdote though, the entire weekend, God showed us that he had a sense of humor because we kept getting references to marriage, either by means of a hot sauce packet at Taco Bell that said "Will you marry me?" or Ben's fortune cookie at the Chinese restaurant we are lunch in before the proposal that talked about the "Big Question." I shoulda known!
