Completely unsuspecting of any unusual Milliways going-ons is Ryan.

Sitting on the couch, he's engrossed in a book and working on a cup of coffee.

Totally unaware.

Elaine comes in, her stride a little...looser than it usually is. "Hi, Ryan," she says cheerfully. "Me and Chris are going out shopping--okay?"

It's not asking permission...it's more like asking if there's anything else they should be doing tonight.

She leans over the back of the couch and drapes her arms over him, holding a candy bar in her hand. "This is really good chocolate--you should try some."

She's in a great mood--and she's been down a little lately, what with the autumn coming on and everything.

"All right," he says slowly, looking up at her in confusion.

There's something wrong here though he's not entirely sure what yet.

"Thanks." Ryan takes the candy but doesn't open it yet. "...Where are you going shopping?"

Elaine pauses. "I...have no idea."

She kisses his cheek, leaning her head against his. He's soooo cute. "But Chris was so down earlier--she needs some cheering up. It'll be fun."

"And you're going shopping," he repeats, still lost. "Well, that sounds nice. What was wrong with Chris?"

After what Jack had told him about her seeing a therapist, he'd been concerned though Chris never said much to him when he asked.
